Project Overview

Cjams (Child, Juvenile, and Adult Management System) project, aimed at revolutionizing the existing DHS processes across all agencies in the state of Maryland. This comprehensive endeavor encompassed the enhancement of systems for Foster Care, Adult Services, Child Welfare, Licensing, and Monitoring, ensuring a cohesive and efficient management system for diverse demographics.

As the Lead UX Designer, I assumed a pivotal role upon joining the company in 2018, overseeing a team of UX designers throughout the project. Collaborating closely with my team, we operated onsite at the DHS office in Baltimore, Maryland, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with project objectives and stakeholder needs.

Process

Upon my arrival, the DHS process was entrenched in an older system, necessitating a comprehensive overhaul. Employing design thinking methodologies, I facilitated workshops aimed at eliciting insights from key stakeholders within DHS. Despite limited access to day-to-day individuals, these sessions proved invaluable in identifying pain points and eliciting business requirements for the new system. Collaborating closely with DHS personnel, their real-time feedback during design reviews bolstered our confidence in the final deliverables, ensuring the new system met their needs effectively.
